ARTIST RESIDENCIES
General terms & technical framework


Aderno welcomes creators and researchers across all artistic and cultural disciplines for creation and research residencies. Guided by the principles of Slow Art, our residencies, projects, and programs foster long-term, continuous artistic and research processes in deep connection with the local territory, community, and the preservation of natural heritage, maintaining an ongoing commitment to sustainability and the principles of the UN 2030 Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
What we provide
Accommodation and workspace
Fully provided housing and a workspace suitable for the project's development.
Technical and curatorial support
Continuous artistic guidance and curatorial monitoring, as well as technical assistance by the Aderno team, in local collaboration with specialists from the Mata do Bussaco Foundation and the Mealhada Municipal Council, alongside the support of our partners across various fields.
Cultural mediation and communication
Dedicated, specialized professional support for community engagement across the various projects, photographic documentation of the creative process, and promotion through the communication channels of both the association and its partners.
Public presentation and dissemination
Production and logistical support for public presentations of the projects, both for events hosted at Aderno and within its territory, as well as with partners.
Circulation and partner network
Access to Aderno’s institutional network and partners to foster future touring and circulation of the resulting artwork beyond the creation site.
Institutional framework
Our residencies are developeded in strategic cooperation with the Mata do Bussaco Foundation, the Mealhada Municipal Council, and the Luso Parish Council, reinforcing our mission to foster decentralized artistic excellence and sustainable cultural development in decentralized territories and communities.
Financial support and in-kind contributions

Aderno provides comprehensive institutional and logistical support (accommodation, workspace, technical assistance, mediation, and communication) as an In-Kind Contribution.

The financial valuation of this support is determined on a case-by-case basis, tailored to the specific duration, residency phases, and technical requirements of each project.

Formal letters of invitation and institutional support statements are provided to assist artists with external funding applications.
Access conditions
Access is granted by invitation, exchange between partners, or spontaneous application, with eligibility determined according to Aderno's programming guidelines.
